Jenny-Mai Nuyen , actually Jenny-Mai Nguyen (born March 14, 1988 in Munich ) is a German fantasy writer . To make it easier to pronounce, she publishes her books - on the advice of her publisher - under the name Nuyen .

Life

Jenny-Mai Nguyen is the daughter of a Vietnamese computer scientist and a German mother and grew up in Munich. She wrote her first stories when she was five and tried her first script when she was ten. She wrote her first novel at the age of thirteen . She made her literary debut in 2007 with the fantasy novel Nijura - The Legacy of the Elven Crown , a bestseller that was followed in rapid succession by others. Two of her novels have licensed translations into Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Danish, Czech, Turkish or Greek. After dropping out of film studies at New York University , she moved to Berlin in 2009 , but occasionally also lives in Munich.
