occupation

Heidi M. is a film by Michael Klier from 2001. In the main role, Katrin Sass plays a woman who has to work for a second chance in life after the separation. The film was released on March 29, 2001.

action

Heidi M. is around 50 years old and runs an East Berlin kiosk. Although this is very popular, Heidi feels lonely. Heidi has been single since her ex-husband left her for a younger girl. The situation got worse when their daughter Annabel went to Australia for a year and her ex-husband married. Any attempts to break out of her life fail.

In this situation she gets to know Franz, who is roughly the same age as a single parent, who is in a similar situation. However, the approach is not easy. Heidi is no longer interested in an "adventure" - something "serious", on the other hand, seems to be overwhelming at the moment.

criticism

The lexicon of international films judged Heidi M. to be “a haunting film about loneliness and a second chance in life, about the pursuit of happiness and the obstacles that people often put in their own way”. The story is "told in unobtrusive images" and creates "great emotional closeness to the characters, even if it sometimes gets caught up in standardized scene structures". The performance of Katrin Sass was highlighted.

Awards

Katrin Sass was awarded the "Lola" for best leading actress at the 2001 German Film Prize, and Franziska Troegner was also nominated for best supporting actress. In 2002 Sass also received the German Film Critics' Prize . In the same year the film was also nominated for the Adolf Grimme Prize .
