Sophie Maintigneux
Sophie Maintigneux (* 1961 in Paris ) is a French camerawoman and professor for film image design at the Art Academy for Media (Cologne).
At the age of 23 she photographed The Green Shine for Éric Rohmer . The film received a Golden Lion in Venice in 1986 . In 1987 she made the film King Lear for Jean-Luc Godard . In 1990 Maintigneux was awarded the German Critics' Prize. In 2001 she received the Femina Film Prize for L'amour, l'argent, l'amour at the Max Ophüls Prize film festival .
She has lived in Berlin since 1988, where, in addition to her film work, she teaches at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin DFFB .
In 2015 there was a legal dispute between her and the board of trustees of the DFFB because of a director position she was seeking there. A Berlin court has ordered the urgent procedure that this post may not be filled until the decision in the main proceedings. Maintigneux is of the opinion that the dispute is primarily about whether the DFFB will be more artistic or more commercial, whereby it prefers the first option.
