Fräulein Stinnes goes around the world is a German docudrama from 2009, which combines historical documentary film recordings with scenes from the game.

action

The film is about the world tour of racing driver Clärenore Stinnes , who between 1927 and 1929 was the first woman to circumnavigate the world in a car, an Adler Standard 6 . She was accompanied by the Swedish cameraman Carl-Axel Söderström , who documented the project on film. The plot runs chronologically, it begins in 1927 with the departure in Germany and ends two years later with the return of the protagonists in Berlin. On their journey, Stinnes and Söderström crossed three continents and over twenty countries.

On the way they overcame obstacles such as the frozen Lake Baikal or the Andes in South America and sometimes experienced dicey situations such as robbery attacks or a lack of water. Since there was no road network in most areas in the 1920s, the two of them drove mostly over completely unpaved roads or simply across the country. The subsoil consisted sometimes of stony heaps or swamps, sometimes it was covered by snow and ice.

Reviews

“[… Carl-Axel Söderström] fascinating documents offer, free of any exoticism, rare glimpses into foreign worlds and show areas that are completely untouched by tourism and infrastructure. In contrast, the staged game scenes are a little pale despite the very present actors, which of course does not affect the enjoyment of the adventurous story. "

background

  • The film premiered on August 20, 2009.
  • The vehicle used for the shoot can be viewed today in the Freudenberg Technology Museum . A historic Adler Favorit , very similar to the Adler Standard 6 ridden by Stinnes and Söderström, was purchased and restored for the set.
  • In line with the film, there was a touring exhibition in various cities , in which, in addition to information boards, video and photo material on the subject, the car from the film was also on view.
  • In addition to the feature film, Söderström's original recordings have also been released on DVD.
