Bettina Boehler
Bettina Böhler (born June 24, 1960 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German film editor .
life and work
Bettina Böhler began her film career at the age of nineteen as a copy factory intern and dubbing assistant. Since 1985 she has been working as an editor with well-known German directors of various stripes such as Christian Petzold , Christoph Schlingensief , Oskar Roehler and Angelina Maccarone . It has been more than 50 feature films, documentaries and television films mounted .
In her collaboration with various directors, she played a key role in shaping the narrative rhythm and assembly structure of the Berlin school . Many of the works have been shown and awarded at the international film festivals in Cannes , Venice and Berlin .
Bettina Böhler's work is characterized by the 'invisible cut', which draws attention to the narrative and atmosphere and places the montage itself in the background. She worked with director Marcel Gisler on several films .
In 2007 she was awarded the Bremen Film Prize for many years of service to European film. In 2012, Barbara was nominated for the German Film Prize for her collaboration with Christian Petzold . Bettina Böhler was nominated again for the German Film Award in 2017 for editing the feature film Wild .
With the documentary Schlingensief - Into the Silence Screaming , which will premiere on February 21, 2020 as part of the 70th Berlin International Film Festival , Böhler is presenting her first directorial work.
Bettina Böhler lives with her partner, the filmmaker Angelina Maccarone , in Berlin . Among other things, she is a lecturer at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) . Böhler is a member of the European Film Academy , the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Arts .
