The Bundesverband Filmschnitt Editor e. V. ( BFS ) is a professional interest group for freelance film editors . It was founded in 1984.
The association sees itself as a network for professional film editors of all genres and fields of work. He maintains the content-related discussions about the film montage , the further training of the members and other interested parties, and is committed to the external perception of the profession. Other central tasks of the association are the enforcement of the interests of the members against the film and television industry, participation in collective bargaining agreements and the representation of interests in the collecting society Bild-Kunst .
The association is managed by a three to seven-member board. The current board, which was newly elected in May 2018, consists of Dietmar Kraus and Claus Wehlisch as executive board members, as well as Alexander Berner , Stefan Essl , Julia Oehring , Felix Rudek and Fani Schoinopoulou .
The fully qualified lawyer Silke Spahr has been the full-time managing director of the association since January 1st, 2016 .
