Florian Gärtner

Florian Gärtner (born April 23, 1968 in Korbach ) is a German film director and screenwriter .

Career

Florian Gärtner grew up in Marburg and London (1972–1978). After graduating from high school, he studied English and media studies at the Philipps University in Marburg and the Free University of Berlin from 1988 to 1995 . Gärtner made films on Super 8 during his school and university days , which he also screened in public. He is one of the co-founders of the Berliner Grundtheater, founded in 1991 . Florian Gärtner lives in Berlin.

In 1993 he shot the self-produced television film extraterrestrials based on his own script, which was shown in 1994 at the workshop for young filmmakers (now the workshop of the young film scene ).

Gärtner's film Drachenland was awarded the Interfilmpreis of the film festival Max Ophüls Preis in 1999.
