Morning duds! The instructor Schmidt film is a German action - comedy from the year 2008 by Mike Eschmann with Holger Müller in the lead role of "instructor Schmidt".

action

In the barracks of trainer Schmidt, a high-ranking state visit has been announced. Prince Ravan and Princess Shirin are expected to later sign a peace treaty at Castle Schwangau after the Kingdom of Kalluchistan , located in the Middle East, was able to put down a coup d'état by Ravan's corrupt twin brother Habib with the support of the UN . In order to be safe from instructor Schmidt at the reception in the barracks, Colonel Herold sends him to grid square 56 , far away , to fight alleged terrorists there. At his side, the colonel places the general's son, the pacifist recruit Rainer Zielinski. When two armed men appear there, Schmidt and Zielinski overpower them as supposed terrorists. Schmidt interprets their KSK badge for the Special Forces Command as a "Koran victory fighter".

Back at the barracks, Prince Ravan is kidnapped by the twin brother Habib, who is believed to be dead, and who takes his place. Prince Ravan is brought to the catacombs of the nearby Castle Schwangau. Schmidt, Zielinski and Shirin are being pursued by the KSK under Brigadier General Scheel-Golowski. Finally, the three of them take refuge in Grandpa Schmidt's weekend house. He and the "wheelchair grandpa" own a large collection of weapons from the Second World War and have equipped the house with armor. When the KSK tries to storm the house, Schmidt, his grandpa and the wheelchair grandpa shoot back while Zielinski and Shirin take cover. Eventually the defenders in the house ran out of ammunition. So they fake a surrender so that Schmidt, Zielinski and Shirin can escape through a secret tunnel, while Grandpa Schmidt and the "wheelchair grandpa" in a World War II tank distract the KSK and shoot down a VW Beetle, among other things.

The three of them join the ballet group Magical Poetic Dance Company in order to penetrate Schloss Schwangau . They discover that the head of operations, General Scheel-Golowski, is in cahoots with Habib. After the signing of the peace treaty, the “light of peace” will be lit, but this would also detonate the explosives deposited under the ballroom. Schmidt accidentally lights the light himself, but can pee it out in time and save the princess and Ravan.

reception

In the opinion of Stefan Ludwig von Filmstarts , the film fails “because of the challenge of getting a successful stage character onto the screen”. While Schmidt shouted “militaristic slogans” in his program, “that the audience gets the laughing stuck in their throats”, in the cinema he degenerates into “a dumb troop commander”. The concept of the film is reminiscent of the Swiss comedy Watch out, get set, Charlie! by director Mike Eschmann , who was celebrated for his work in Switzerland. Eschmann, who, in Ludwig's opinion, made little use of the mistakes of Achtung, done, Charlie! learned, also directed Holger Müller's film. This is "so badly staged and without any timing that it is not even able to provoke". Ludwig judges, "The humor is so predictable and at the same time so intrusive that the audience is constantly ashamed of the makers", and compares the film in the same breath with Mario Barth's film Männnersache , who suffers from similar problems. Ludwig only found positive words for the portrayal of Ingo Appelt . As a final evaluation, Ludwig awarded 1.5 out of 5 possible points.

Cinema says: “As a radio comedy,“ Morning, you Luschen! ”Was a hit. The big screen, on the other hand, is a few sizes too big for trainer Schmidt and his defensive puns. The Bundeswehr joke brings it to a halfway successful gag (a car chase in reverse) and otherwise annoys with a hair-raising, stupid conspiracy story and trite gay jokes. "

The film-dienst judges: “The first cinematic detour of a comedy figure with an outrageous plot and a crude number revue full of squawking gags and tired stunts. What is intended as an ironic action parody, does not get beyond a male alliance sketch parade. Coquetry with politically incorrect topics is not worth the slightest argument. "
