Reviews

The film received rave reviews from the vast majority of critics:

“In artistic black and white, the director relentlessly tells a daring Sado Maso story. Maren Kroymann fascinates as a 52-year-old who enters into a dangerously intense liaison with a 16-year-old. A film of shocking openness. "

- The world

“In the Newcomer-Heron 'Cineasten der Gegenwart', VERFOLGT caused a small sensation: the story of a sad-maso relationship between a 52-year-old probation officer (great: Maren Kroymann) and her 16-year-old protégé, cautiously and completely without voyeurism or S / M cliché told. "

- Hamburger Morgenpost

"... balancing on the fine line between comedy and tragedy with a beautiful naturalness."

- Süddeutsche Zeitung

"Maccarone's approach to the material is remarkable: free from leather eroticism, body juices and whipping bliss, in high-contrast black and white, VERFOLGT shows the fragility of these two people who are only hesitantly indulging in their passion."

- The daily mirror

“A disturbing, a disturbing film. And for the role of Elsa, Maren Kroymann deserves all of the actor awards that German film has to offer. "

- Hessian radio

Awards

“Without ever becoming speculative, director Angelina Maccarone takes up the taboo topic of SM relationships, even exaggerating it with the gender-age constellation. The daring script by Susanne Billig and Angelina Maccarone's masterly staging skills manage to create an unbelievably multi-faceted, but never overloaded, initial situation and to constantly enrich it throughout the extremely atmospheric film. (...) The very far-reaching, partly very personal discussion of the film in the FBW jury is an indication of the explosiveness of the topic and of the successful implementation at the highest artistic level, which is another high point in the creative work of the director and the production company (MMM Film Zimmermann & Co GmbH., Hamburg) and arouse the greatest hope for further, similarly impressive works.
