The FilmFörderung Hamburg sponsored movies and television productions of all genres . It was dissolved in 2007 and replaced by the Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein Film Fund .

history

The roots of the Hamburg Film Funding go back to 1979, when the so-called “ Hamburg Declaration ” was signed after the “Film Festival of Filmmakers” . The signatories included Reinhard Hauff , Hark Bohm , Volker Schlöndorff , Wim Wenders and Werner Herzog .

In 1979 the Hamburger Filmbüros eV was founded. One of the founding members was Hark Bohm. In 1980 the Hamburg city council decided to promote cultural films. When the funds are first awarded, they are awarded directly to the filmmakers.

In 1982 the Hamburg city council decided to install an economic film subsidy. The film funding committee emerges from this.

In 1988 the previous film funding committee was renamed Film Fonds Hamburg.

The merger of the film office, film fund and sales office to form FilmFörderung Hamburg GmbH (FFHH) was decided in 1994 by the citizens of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and began work on July 1, 1995.

In 1996 the company MEDIA Desk becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hamburg Film Fund. One year later, the ZDF contributes 2 million DM annually to the film funding. Another year later, the NDR followed with a sum of 1 million DM. In 1998, the NDR increased its share to also 2 million DM per year.

In 2002 the cultural authority of the city of Hamburg became the sole responsible authority for the budget. In 2003 the city of Hamburg cut the funding for the first time by 10 percent. The Filmfest Hamburg operates from this year as the second subsidiary of the Hamburg Film Fund.

The funds of the city of Hamburg will be cut again in 2005 by 1.5 million. Originally, the CDU Senate had even planned a reduction of 3 million, but this was corrected after protests by, among others, Hark Bohm , Wim Wenders and Farid Müller . In 2005, the funding amounts to 5.5 million euros. Furthermore, the economic authority becomes the competent authority. The two broadcasters participating in NDR and ZDF are each 750,000 euros. In July 2005, the Hamburg Film Fund celebrated its 10th anniversary as a GmbH.

The FilmFörderung Hamburg financially supports projects from the first draft of the script to the rental and distribution of the finished work. Many young filmmakers were able to make their first films with this funding. At FilmFörderung Hamburg, two committees decide on the allocation of the available funds. Committee 1 is responsible for projects with production costs over 800,000 euros, while Committee 2 is responsible for all projects below this limit. Committee 1 consists of six members. In addition to the managing director of FilmFörderung, he has three industry experts and two editors each from the broadcasters NDR and ZDF. Committee 2 consists of four members: the managing director of film funding and three industry experts.

The committee members of both bodies are appointed by the Supervisory Board for a period of three years.
