Helene Hegemann
Helene Hegemann (born February 19, 1992 in Freiburg im Breisgau ), also Helene Isemeyer, is a German author , director and actress . As a young author, she was initially praised as authentic by literary critics for her debut novel Axolotl Roadkill . A few months later, the book was in the center of the feature pages because of allegations of plagiarism .
Life
Hegemann first grew up with her divorced mother, a graphic artist and theater painter , in Bochum . After the death of her mother, she moved to Berlin with her father Carl Hegemann at the age of 13 . It was at this age that Hegemann began to write and first attracted attention with her weblog .
On December 6, 2007, her play Ariel 15 was premiered in Berlin at Ballhaus Ost under the direction of Sebastian Mauksch . Helene Hegemann calls her piece an art fairy tale . It was implemented as a radio play by Deutschlandradio in 2008 .
In the same year the Federal Cultural Foundation subsidized the realization of a script that Hegemann had written at the age of fourteen. The resulting film, Torpedo , a youth drama that she also directed, premiered at the Hofer Filmtage in 2008 , was shown in German cinemas in summer 2009 and was awarded the Max Ophüls Prize . The film has a top-class cast with Jule Böwe , Alice Dwyer , Lars Eidinger and Caroline Peters . Katharina Saalfrank has a guest role as a therapist.
In 2009 , in the episode film Deutschland 09 , Hegemann played one of the leading roles in Nicolette Krebitz 's contribution The Unfinished , in which she meets Ulrike Meinhof and Susan Sontag .
In 2010 Hegemann's first novel Axolotl Roadkill was published by Ullstein-Verlag . The book was initially celebrated as a sensation of the literary season ("great coming-of-age novel of the noughties "), until allegations were raised that Hegemann had copied from the Berlin blogger and author Airen . Some formulations and passages turned out to be copied, which sparked an extensive controversy not only about Hegemann, but also about the theory, practice and definition of plagiarism as opposed to " intertextuality ". Nevertheless, the book was nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize. The novel has now been translated into numerous languages.
Her second novel, Jage Zwei Tigers , was published in 2013 .
In 2015, Helene Hegemann filmed her debut novel as a director and screenwriter under the title Axolotl Overkill .
In 2018, her third novel Bungalow made it onto the long list of the German Book Prize .
Hegemann, who left school after finishing secondary school, lives in Berlin . Her partner is the journalist Andrea Hanna Hünniger . She is friends with Ronja von Rönne .
