Carl Hegemann

Carl-Georg Hegemann (born March 6, 1949 in Paderborn ) is a German author and theater maker. From 2006 to 2014 he was Professor of Dramaturgy at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig . From 2011 to 2014 he was also a dramaturge at the Thalia Theater Hamburg. Since Frank Castorf began acting as artistic director at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz (1992–2017), he has repeatedly worked at this house, most recently from 2015 to 2017 as chief dramaturge. He teaches at colleges and universities in Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Munich and Zurich, among others.

Career

Hegemann studied philosophy, social and literary studies in Frankfurt am Main , where he received his doctorate in 1979 with a thesis on Johann Gottlieb Fichte and Karl Marx .

He was dramaturge at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen (1988–89), at the Stadttheater in Freiburg im Breisgau (1989–92), at the Schauspielhaus Bochum (1995–96), at the Berliner Ensemble (1996–98), at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg -Platz (1992–1995, 1998–2006 and 2015–2017) and at the Bayreuth Festival (2004–2007 and 2011–2014) Hegemann has worked regularly with Christoph Schlingensief since 1997 .

Hegemann lives in Berlin and is the father of the author Helene Hegemann .
