Life

Jule Böwe, born to a couple of psychiatrists and neurologists, took her first name Jule in a student dormitory after a roommate said it. While still in the GDR, she initially trained as an occupational therapist and worked in this profession until 1992 in the “Home for Damaged Persons” in Berlin-Lichtenberg and in the special hospital in Berlin-Charlottenburg . During her apprenticeship in Wismar , she played in a student theater group. She applied to a few drama schools, but failed all entrance exams.

In 1994 she passed her stage entrance examination in drama and initially worked as a freelance actress on various stages before starting work in 1997 on the "Baracke" at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the experimental stage of this house. Here Böwe became known primarily through her collaboration with the director Thomas Ostermeier , whom she met in the small Berlin theater in the Schokoladen, where she temporarily played in his production of the play Shoppen & Ficken .

In addition to her work at the theater, Jule Böwe has also appeared in a number of films and occasionally works for radio in radio play productions. She has been firmly committed to the Schaubühne on Lehniner Platz since 1999 . This also resulted in co-productions with the Schauspielhaus Zurich , which were shown in both Berlin and Zurich. There she played u. a. in The Cat on the Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams , again directed by Thomas Ostermeier, in Blackbird , Maria Stuart , Drei Schwestern and together with Sepp Bierbichler in Augenlicht , a world premiere by Marius von Mayenburg . She received several awards for her work.

Services

Böwe is particularly noticeable for her portrayal of physically and psychologically damaged characters, such as Doris in the film Cat in a Sack , as a victim of abuse in a play by Sarah Kane , as Maria attacked by lung cancer in the play Der Würgeengel or as a prisoner in the opposite prison incarcerated prisoner, Irene fell in love with Iain Dilthey's prisoner.
