Grzegorz Jarzyna (* 1968 in Chorzów (German: Königshütte), Poland ) is a Polish theater director .

Jarzyna first studied philosophy and theology in Krakow before starting to study directing at the drama school in Krakow in 1993 . His mentor at the drama school was the director Krystian Lupa , whose assistant he became during his studies.

His first independent work dealt with Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz's theater of the absurd . In 1997 Jarzyna directed Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy by Witold Gombrowicz at Teatr Stary in Kraków .

Since 1998 Grzegorz Jarzyna has been the artistic director of the Teatr Rozmaitości in Warsaw , which together with Krzysztof Warlikowski he made one of the most progressive and popular theaters in Poland. His productions are invited to international festivals. His productions are also shown in Germany . In October 2007 he was awarded the Nestroy Prize in the Best Director category for his Viennese production of Medea .
