Krystian Lupa

Krystian Lupa (born November 7, 1943 in Jastrzębie-Zdrój ) is a Polish theater director . Today he is considered one of the most renowned Polish theater directors.

Life

After starting at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow , Lupa moved to the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow , where he studied from 1963 to 1969 and graduated with a degree in graphics. He studied film directing at the State University for Film, Television and Theater Łódź in Łódź and theater directing at the Stanisław Wyspiański Academy of Theater Arts . After graduating, he directed the Old Theater in Kraków and the Theater in Jelenia Góra . He describes his way of working with the actors and the dramatic texts as laboratory samples .

Lupa mainly staged works by Robert Musil , Thomas Bernhard , Fjodor Michailowitsch Dostojewski , Rainer Maria Rilke , Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz and Witold Gombrowicz .
