Uwe B. Carstensen

Uwe B. Carstensen (born April 24, 1955 in Mulhouse , France ) is a German dramaturge , editor and theater director .

Life

Carstensen studied German, English, Romance studies and art history at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , Aix-en-Provence and Hamburg . From 1979 he was assistant director at the Staatstheater Stuttgart and the Thalia Theater Hamburg . From 1983 to 1990 he was employed as a dramaturge at the Bavarian State Theater.

In 1986 he directed Fülle des Wohllauts after Thomas Mann with Martin Benrath and in 1989 the world premiere of Gundi Ellert's Elena and Robert with Joana Maria Gorvin . In 1990 Carstensen became head of the theater, film and television department at S. Fischer Verlag in Frankfurt am Main . There, together with Stefanie von Lieven, he publishes the Theater Theater book series with current theater plays.

In 1993 Carstensen married the actress Hannelore Elsner . The marriage ended in divorce in 2000.
