Bonn Park

Bonn Park (* 1987 in Berlin ) is a German-Korean playwright , director and filmmaker.

Life

Bonn Park grew up in Berlin and Korea. Even as an adolescent he was interested in the theater and participated in the P14 youth club of the Volksbühne on Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. When he began studying Slavic Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2008 , he continued at the same time at the Volksbühne Berlin , where his first works as a director and author were made, including "SIMBA - Prince of Denmark".

From 2010, Park studied scenic writing at the Berlin University of the Arts . His first piece submitted to a competition, The Sorrows of the Young SuperMario in 2D , won the innovation prize at the Heidelberg Stückemarkt in 2011. In 2014 he received the Else Lasker Schüler Dramatist Prize for his play Sadness & Melancholy . It had its world premiere on June 11, 2015 at the Bonn Theater . On May 31, a 61-minute radio play version of Deutschlandradio was broadcast on the station.

After commissioned work for the Berlin Theater an der Parkaue and the “Writers Studio” of the Schauspiel Frankfurt , Bonn Park premiered his own play The Growling of the Milky Way at the Bielefeld Theater, which won the Stückemarkt at the Berlin Theatertreffen 2017.

In 2018 he developed and staged the opera Three Billion Sisters at the Volksbühne Berlin , for which he was awarded the Friedrich-Luft-Preis 2018 and as Young Director of the Year 2019 by the specialist magazine Theater heute .
