German Youth Theater Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Youth Theater Prize and the German Children's Theater Prize are literary prizes that are awarded every two years to outstanding plays for children's and youth theater . The prizes and the scholarships also awarded are endowed with a total of 35,000 euros and are awarded by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth . The Frankfurt-based children's and youth theater center in the Federal Republic of Germany ( ASSITEJ Germany ) coordinates the jury work and is the organizer of the award ceremony in Frankfurt am Main.

The aim of ASSITEJ is to support the dialogue between theater, author and audience in the context of children and youth education. The scholarships for the German Children's Theater Prize are awarded to authors who, in collaboration with a selected theater, write a new play for children. According to the award-giver's specifications, children should also be involved in the creation process of the pieces.
