Alida Bremer (born March 20, 1959 in Split , Yugoslavia , née Matić ) is a Croatian-German writer , translator and literary scholar .

Life

Alida Bremer studied Comparative Literature , Romance Studies , Slavic Studies and German Studies in Belgrade , Rome , Saarbrücken and Münster . Bremer came to Germany for the first time at the age of 26, she has two children and lives in Münster. After completing her doctorate , she worked as a research assistant and lecturer at the universities of Münster and Giessen . She headed the project “Croatia as a priority country for the Leipzig Book Fair 2008” and the focus on Southeast Europe, which was organized from 2009 to 2011 by the Robert Bosch Foundation , TRADUKI and the Leipzig Book Fair. As part of TRADUKI, she works as a freelancer for the S. Fischer Foundation. From 2008 to 2009 she received the cross-border commuter grant from the Robert Bosch Foundation.

Bremer is the editor of several German-language anthologies of Croatian literature and translator of numerous works from Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian, including by Ivana Sajko , Edo Popović , Iva Brdar, Delimir Rešicki , Marko Pogačar , Zvonko Maković , Roman Simić , Predrag Matvejević , Veljko Barbieri . Alida Bremer is the sister of the Croatian author Edi Matić .

  • 2018: German Youth Theater Prize (with the author) as translator of The (penultimate) Panda or Die Statik by Dino Pešut
