Elli Schulze is a cashier in a bank and a very good-natured person. But a loan for her former husband drives her into debt . After there is still no money in the bank's till, Elli is suspected of having taken the money. Her apartment is given notice and she is on the street. In desperation, she climbs onto a construction crane to kill herself. The crane operator Stadtler prevents her and gives her support for the next steps. Her sister and her brother-in-law, who is a lawyer, help her fight the lawsuit for reinstatement.
