Zoltan Spirandelli

Zoltan Spirandelli (* 1957 in Königstein im Taunus ) is a German director .

Life

Spirandelli got his Italian surname from his father's ancestors and his Hungarian first name from his best friend. In his youth the cantor persuaded him to participate in the church choir in the Johanniskirche in Kronberg im Taunus , which has a silent organ .

In Hamburg, Spirandelli completed an opera directing course at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . In 1985 he shot the experimental short film Lulu as a thesis as part of his opera directing studies. He received the diploma grade "very good" as well as the German Film Critics' Prize . At the same time he took courses at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts as a "black listener". He also used his short film Lulu as a recording for his film studies. Spirandelli directed short films for about ten years.

He first gained fame with his interactive short film Der Hahn ist tot (German Film Critics Prize), in which the cinema audience is encouraged to sing along from the screen. The pre-film evergreen (KurzFilmFreunde Köln eV), for example, is traditionally shown in one evening at the Kino auf der Burg (castle festival with open-air cinema) in Esslingen am Neckar (2003 with 3000 singers). After all, Spirandelli made numerous films for television and worked with actors such as Andrea Sawatzki (UFOs about Waterlow) , Matthias Schweighöfer ( Verbotenes Verlangen - I love my student ) , Daniel Brühl ( Vaya con Dios ) , Rufus Beck ( inspector role ) and Ottfried Fischer ( King Otto ) together. He received the Bavarian Film Prize for his only full-length feature film to date, Vaya con Dios .

Zoltan Spirandelli is also active as an actor, producer and screenwriter.

The Berlin-based artist is the father of two children who have appeared in two of his films. His son Ivan was seen in the role of Tobias Pauli in the film Die Farben der Liebe and as Micha Windscheid in the film comedy Kissed in court . His daughter Karla also starred as Janina Windscheid in the latter film.

The theater director David Gravenhorst worked almost exclusively with Zoltan Spirandelli on his excursion to film.
