Casanova gives him various pieces of advice on how to cope with his life. At first Jakob is extremely interested in the statements made by this figure.

Since Casanova only appears to him and is invisible to everyone else, Jakob enters into an agreement with him: Casanova is to instruct Jakob in the secret art of seducing women, for which Jakob promises to correct the widespread image at one of his next exhibitions that Casanova was not just a womanizer, but rather a respected scientist and philosopher of his time.

It turns out, however, that Jakob is now completely overwhelmed by this new situation, because his virtual companion is constantly whispering words in his ear, which Jakob sometimes reproduces verbatim when he encounters women, which in the current situation is completely inappropriate and incomprehensible arrives at the opposite.

Even his only love, the teacher Marie Winter, he initially denounced by a clumsy circumstance, but Jakob realizes in time that this arrogant, prejudiced and self-confident act, which his companion constantly prompted him, is completely wrong in today's world Place is. In front of the assembled journalists, who all point their microphones at him, Jakob admits his own inability to start a relationship with the female sex and asks Marie, who happens to be walking in the door, to publicly apologize for his own wrongdoing towards her. When he confesses his unconditional love for her, the journalists applaud him, and Marie seems to forgive him for his sins of the past. At this moment Casanova reappears before Jacob's eyes. Jakob decides to finally get rid of the companion he has become disliked. It comes to a showdown, Jakob fights Casanova with swords and everyday objects like chandeliers that he tries to throw at his head.

When Jakob threatens to lose to the overpowering Casanova, who knows how to handle the sword, Casanova hits him on the head with a thick book to end the fight and emerge victorious. However, this renewed blow to Jacob's head leads to the fact that he loses those hallucinations that have accompanied him all along in the form of Casanova. Jakob is now completely normal in the head again, Marie rushes to Jakob, and the plot has a happy ending as the two become a couple.

production

criticism

The production received mostly negative reviews. TV Spielfilm rated it with a thumb stretched to the side: “Thomas Heinze embodies the poetic woman hero as convincingly as a wet rag does a lighter. But even Heio von Stetten will not win a Bambi for his inexplicable change from Hagestolz to Cavaliere. The two boys only manage to thoroughly flatten a harmless and absolutely predictable idea ”. The program magazine's almost devastating conclusion is: "In contrast, even coffee advertisements are sexy".

The lexicon of international films judges not very benevolently: "Sluggish (television) fantasy comedy that relies on anachronisms without being really funny or even charming".
