Shrigley's work includes sculptures, paintings, animations, texts and photographs, but the best known are probably his drawn cartoons, which are published both in books and in the form of postcards. For his drawings in particular, Shrigley often chooses a style that is characterized by its limited technique and reminiscent of representatives of the Art Brut . Because of their simple forms, repeated spelling errors and strikeouts, his works often appear unfinished or not professionally worked out. But this should be seen more as a deliberately chosen stylistic device than as bungling and underlines the comical effect that Shrigley's works often achieve with their black, humorous portrayals of bizarre and absurd situations and figures.
