The Askania Media Filmproduktion GmbH (proper spelling: ASKANIA MEDIA) was a German film production company produced mainly television films and series.

history

Askania Media Filmproduktion GmbH was founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of Munich-based Bavaria Film and RBB Media. Martin Hofmann managed the company, which developed and produced the world's longest running fictional children's television series Schloss Einstein with 480 episodes from 1998 to 2007 . The series is now produced under license in Erfurt.

From 1999 to 2005 the company produced the award events and TV galas for the German Film Prize Lola and the German Short Film Prize on behalf of the BMK .

Since 2001, a number of successful TV movies and games like The Colors of Love , Happiness is a cat , Heiratsschwindler not kisses , the Spessart the spirits are going on , the Mongolettes - we will rock u. v. m. Produced for both public and private television channels. From 2003, in cooperation with Pimento, non-fictional programs such as Django's Reise - Asyl bei den Türken , Schlau mal and Isabell Allende were created .

In 2003 a collaboration with Pimento Filmproduktions GmbH was agreed. Reports and documentations were created under the name Pimento Medienproduktion GmbH. These formats were edited by Pimento and produced by Askania.

Since 2006, television films in the crime series Tatort have been made for RBB and SR . Since 2008, contributions have been made to the ARD fairy tale series Six in One Stroke every year , so far Tischlein Deck Dich , Rumpelstiltskin , The Emperor's New Clothes , Cinderella , Hansel and Gretel .

In 2010/11 the company produced the first two seasons of the first German real-time series, Alone Against Time, which has now won several national and international awards . The first 16 episodes of the Berlin contribution Hauptstadtrevier for the ARD early evening series Heiter bis tödlich have been produced since 2012 .

The company was discontinued in the first half of 2016 for economic and structural reasons. In the course of the liquidation, Bavaria Film took over the ten percent share of RBB Media.
