Outwardly, Hannah and Paul have a picture book. But Paul fell in love with a 24-year-old with whom he had a relationship . Hanna's daughter, the 20-year-old Pia, has a good relationship with her mother. She can talk to her about everything, including the "great love" she has found in her new friend Erik. She tells her mother that her roommate Charlotte has had a relationship with a married man. At first Hannah does not recognize a connection between Charlotte and Paul, because her husband is under great stress at work and says he has to work a lot. Accordingly, he comes home late. When he has to go to a convention, the couple have an argument because Paul doesn't want Hannah to accompany him. Hannah realizes that Paul is cheating on her. “With a careful eye for details and of course with the help of his excellent actors, Broecker stages the drastic change in the relationship. All of a sudden Paul's kisses seem almost pointed; Now you can also see how he checks with a shy sideways glance whether Hannah is buying his lies. She in turn reacts almost masochistically at first, gives Charlotte the opera tickets that were actually bought for herself and Paul and watches the couple on their way home.
