occupation

The King of St. Pauli is a six-part television drama by Dieter Wedel from 1997 , which was broadcast on Sat.1 in 1998 .

Starting point of the action

Rudi Kranzow runs the renowned striptease club "Blaue Banane" on St. Pauli . His rival, the fishmonger Graf, has his sights on the restaurant, because the restaurant is adjacent to Graf's Eros Center , which Graf wants to expand. The situation worsens when Kranzow loses a large amount of money to the people of Graf while playing dice and is initially unable to pay.

Shortly thereafter, an attack was carried out on Kranzow at the port, he was hospitalized and was in a coma . Startled by this news, his son Robert decides to interrupt his studies in Munich and return to St. Pauli. Robert had not had a good relationship with his father until then, but he still wants to prevent his father from losing everything during his illness. At his side are Sugar, an ex-boxer and Rudi's right-hand man, the prostitute Mizzi and the transsexual Karin. Together they try to save the "blue banana" from being sold.
