Ralf Leistl

Ralf Leistl (born July 23, 1959 in Wasserburg am Inn ) is a German cameraman and documentary filmmaker .

Life

In the mid-1980s, Leistel completed his training in camera at what was then the State College for Optics and Photo Technology in Berlin . He did internships at the camera rental companies FGV Schmidle GmbH in Munich and CineCam Camera Rental Service GmbH in Planegg and gained professional experience in cinema and television productions as a camera assistant , alongside Edward Kłosiński , Igor Luther , Jürgen Jürges , Gérard Vandenberg , Jörg , among others Schmidt-Reitwein , Paul Laufer , Michael Seresin , Klaus Eichhammer , Martin Langer , Rainer Klausmann , Torsten Breuer and Dieter Deventer .

For the first time, mainly responsible for the camera recording , he appeared in a main cast in Sebastian Andrae's short film The Soup Crisis (1994) . Since then he has worked as a cameraman for several advertising, film and television productions. Some of them have also received awards, many shown as competition entries at renowned film festivals. The “Liquid Energie” commercial for Mercedes-Benz was awarded the Yahoo special prize in the 2000 Hennessy Prize competition organized by the Young Advertising Film Initiative (IJW) . Lancelot von Nasos short film Der Fenstersturz received first prize at the 2001 International Short Film & Video Festival in New York and was officially nominated for an Oscar there , received the audience award at the Moscow Short Film Festival in the same year and was given the film title “Particularly valuable”. In 2004, Naso's short film The Tourist again received the rating “Particularly valuable”, was named “Film of the Month” by the Wiesbaden film evaluation agency in December 2004 and was shown at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival (Export Union role). Lara Juliette Sanders ' documentary film Celebration of Flight also received several awards .

In the mid-2000s, the sports enthusiast Leistl discovered a predilection for documentaries and since then has been traveling through regions away from any civilization for filming. This resulted in multi-part television broadcasts for the arte broadcaster .

Leistl is an active member of the professional association for cinematography (BVK), lives in the Sendling district of Munich and runs his own production company for the production of his image films .
