Igor Luther

Igor Luther (born August 5, 1942 in Banská Bystrica ; † June 7, 2020 in Rijeka , Croatia ) was a Slovak cameraman who mainly worked in Germany.

Life

Igor Luther was trained at the film school in Prague and from 1967 worked as chief cameraman. In 1968 he came to the Federal Republic of Germany. He very quickly advanced to become one of the leading visual designers of the new German film . He worked for directors such as Michael Verhoeven , Ulrich Schamoni , Volker Schlöndorff , Douglas Wolfsperger and Andrzej Wajda . Luther won the German Film Prize in the Best Camera category in 1972 for Eins and 1977 for Die Eroberung der Zitadelle and Der Fangschuß . He has been involved in more than 100 productions for film and television.
