Sebastian Andrae (born October 14, 1968 in Hamburg ) is a German screenwriter and member of the board of the Association of German Screenwriters .

biography

After her first film and theater work during school, Andrae studied Middle and Modern History, German and Law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , where he also wrote as a film and theater critic for the Göttinger Tageblatt . At that time he won a competition for the television newspaper Hörzu and Sat.1 with his own series of sketches and was nominated for the short-lived Marlboro script award in 1991.

From 1992, while studying directing at the Munich University of Television and Film , he received his first assignments from various production companies and television stations as the author of television series and TV movies.

Since 1995, Andrae has written over 100 series and films in a wide variety of genres, including sketch comedy ( RTL Saturday Night , Sketchup ), comedies ( Never trust your son-in-law for Sat.1 with Walter Sittler , Die Blaumänner with Peter Heinrich Brix and Jörg Schüttauf ), Adventure ( The Secret of St. Ambrose for ZDF with Ulrich Mühe ), and thrillers ( SOKO 5113 , SOKO Leipzig ). As the main author, Andrae was responsible for the successful Sat.1 crime series Mit Herz und Handschellen with Henning Baum and Elena Uhlig . In 2009, Andrae invented the children's and family series Animals up to the roof on behalf of the production company Polyphon Film- und Fernsehgesellschaft and SWR , which was broadcast on ARD from 2010 . Andrae wrote 67 of the 78 episodes in six seasons. In 2011, episode 16 ( The Wolf is Coming ) won First Prize from the jury at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival . Andrae is the main author of the Magda format , which he invented and developed with the Polyphon . (from 2017) on RTL , which was nominated in 2018 for the international Rose d'Or television award and twice for the German Comedy Award (2017 and 2018) and received the German Television Award 2018 as "Best Comedy Series".

Sebastian Andrae has moderated the presentation of the screenplay Lola at the Berlinale ( German Screenplay Prize ) since 2008 . In 2016 he took over the artistic direction of the script exam at the Kitzbühel Film Festival for the first time.

Film policy

Andrae has been a volunteer member of the board of the Association of German Scriptwriters (VDD) since 2007 and was confirmed in this position in 2009, 2011 and 2013. He has been a managing director since 2015 . He was a member of the award commission and the script commission and is currently a member of the administrative board of the Filmförderungsanstalt and was appointed to the FFA executive committee in 2014 as the first representative of the creative community . In 2013/2014 Andrae was a member of the jury for the selection for “Special Children's Film”.
