Dieter Deventer

Dieter Deventer (born August 2, 1953 in Munich ) is a German cameraman and photographer .

Life

Dieter Deventer was born in Munich. In 1971 he did his Abitur there at the Albert Einstein High School in Munich . He then began studying business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , graduating in 1978 with a degree in business administration.

At the same time, Dieter Deventer made his first films as a screenwriter, director and cameraman. Including the ski, action and mountain films Sir Arthur Knatterski (1980) and Die Pistenteufel (1983). Both films were awarded first place at the International Ski Film Festival in New York .

He then began studying directing at the University of Television and Film (HFF) in Munich (N course). With his graduation film The Sorcerer's Apprentice (1988) he won first prize at the Festival of Fantastic Films in Munich. After graduating, he began to work as a cameraman and established himself nationally and internationally as director of photography in the advertising and feature film sector.

In 2001 he worked as a cameraman in the motion picture Vaya con Dios by Zoltan Spirandelli . a. was awarded three Bavarian Film Awards.

Since 2004 Dieter Deventer has been working on his own photo projects alongside his job as a cameraman. The Time's Traces series was u. a. In 2009 in the gallery T58 in Munich and in 2010 in the gallery Le 5 venice in Venice. The photographs were also shown in the Congress of Buenos Aires in 2009 at the invitation of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies .

In 2009 Deventer appeared in Bjoern Richie Lob's documentary Keep Surfing .

In February 2011 the illustrated book River Surfing - River waves from Munich to the Amazon by Dieter Deventer was published by Terra Magica Verlag.

At the end of 2011 he shot the film Fynbos with director Harry Patramanis in South Africa , which celebrated its world premiere at the Durban International Film Festival 2012. In 2013, Fynbos was shown at the Slamdance Film Festival and Deventer won the Kodak Vision Award for Best Cinematography for best camera . Fynbos was shown in the forum at the 2013 Berlinale .

Dieter Deventer lives in Munich, is married and has two daughters.
