Hans Korte

Hans Ernst Korte (born April 8, 1929 in Bochum ; † September 25, 2016 in Munich ) was a German theater and film actor as well as a radio play , audio book , voice actor and director .

Life

Hans Korte studied music from 1947 to 1949 and played various instruments. In addition to his acting profession, he also worked as a conductor and opera director. He was at home on many theatrical stages; He became generally known through roles in television films and series, including as a retired union official "Max Reuther" at the side of Will Quadflieg and Mario Adorf in Dieter Wedel's The Great Bellheim (1992) and as an underworld godfather in the Wedel epic The King of St Pauli (1997). He stepped in for the latter production because Günter Strack was ill and Mario Adorf was not available. He took on another TV role as the Augsburg brewery entrepreneur "August Meyerbeer" in the successful ZDF series Samt und Silk (1999–2004). He also worked in series such as Katrin ist die Beste (Sat.1 1997), Mit Leib und Seele (ZDF 1989/1992) and Lorentz and Sons .

Korte played on stages in Augsburg, Bochum, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Kassel, Frankfurt am Main and Munich. From 1965 to 1979 he was a permanent member of the ensemble of the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Bavarian State Theater , where he appeared as a Hicketier in Carl Sternheim's Bürger Schippel and as Theobald Mask in Die Hose . He played Mephisto in Faust and the village judge Adam in Der zerbrochne Krug , Galy Gay in Bertolt Brecht's Mann ist Mann , Shlink in Im Thicket of Cities and Peachum in Threepenny Opera . In Friedrich Dürrenmatt's dance of death paraphrase Play Strindberg , he was seen as Edgar and appeared in his adaptation of King Johann .

In recent years, Hans Korte has also made a name for himself as a speaker for audio books . In August 2006 he read an audio book on Patrick Süskind's Das Parfum . In addition, Korte also worked as a voice actor and lent his voice a. a. Claude Rains ( Mr. Smith goes to Washington ) and Keith Michell as James Cook in the multi-part television series Wind and Stars .

Hans Korte lived in Munich and was married to the actress Barbara Rath until the end . His first marriage was to actress Karin Eickelbaum . The puppeteer Thomas Korte is his son.

Hans Korte died at the age of 87 and was buried in the Riem cemetery in the east of Munich.
