Werner Kreindl (born October 20, 1927 in Wels ; † June 6, 1992 in Wagrain , Vöcklabruck ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

The theater actor Kreindl grew up in Vöcklabruck in Upper Austria and was interested in the stage profession from an early age. However, his advances in this regard stood in the way of military service, during which he shot himself in the head at the end of the war as a 17-year-old, from which he soon recovered. Werner Kreindl studied German language and literature and theater studies in Vienna and was in charge of a student theater during this time. After engagements in Vienna and Graz , he soon gained a reputation as a character actor and was hired at the Vienna Burgtheater . Further stations in his career were Bonn , Munich , Darmstadt , Berlin and Hamburg . "The hungry for power marked his artistic path here, the treacherous or cunning." His son Michael (* 1965) is a director.

It was discovered for television in the 1960s. Particularly noteworthy are the multi-part series Nobile - Seven Weeks on Ice (1967) and the television film The Reichstag Fire Trial , in which he took on the role of Hermann Göring . In 1978, Kreindl became known to a wide audience in the crime series SOKO 5113 . In addition to other crime series ( Tatort , Der Kommissar ), he played the head of SOKO, Chief Inspector Karl Göttmann , in the ZDF evening program until his death. In total, he acted in 123 episodes. At the time of his death, the tenth episode of the 12th season had already been shot, in the eleventh episode he was to be replaced as head of SOKO, transferred to the office and promoted to criminal director.

Werner Kreindl was married to the translator Irène Kuhn for the third time and to the actress Diana Körner for the fourth time . He died of a heart attack on June 6, 1992 . His grave is in the Bogenhausen cemetery in Munich (grave wall right 12a).
