Woodrow Parfrey
Woodrow Parfrey (* 5. October 1922 in New York City as Sydney Woodrow Parfrey ; † 29. July 1984 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor .
Life
Woodrow Parfrey served as a soldier in World War II . He was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge and was taken prisoner by Germany . He was awarded the Silver Star and the Purple Heart . After the war he studied at the New School for Social Research under Erwin Piscator . Then he was a stage actor, first off-Broadway , then on Broadway . In 1962 he moved to Los Angeles .
Woodrow Parfrey appeared in the television series Danger as early as 1950 . Among his more than 100 television appearances were guest appearances in successful western series such as The People of Shiloh Ranch , Smoking Colts , Bonanza , Alias Smith and Jones , Kung Fu or Our Little Farm , crime series such as The Untouchables , Perry Mason , On the Run , Solo for ONCEL , Kobra, take over , The streets of San Francisco , Kojak - Mission in Manhattan , Charlie's Angels , A Colt for All Occasions or Remington Steele , but also fantasy series such as The Munsters , The Charming Jeannie or In Love with a Witch . He was also seen in A Cage Full of Heroes and in Dallas . In the pilot of the series The Waltons , he played Ike Godsey , a role that made Joe Conley famous. Woodrow Parfrey also played the ticket seller in the first three episodes of the very short-lived series Time Express .
His best known film roles were the Clusiot in Franklin J. Schaffner's film Papillon and Maximus in Planet of the Apes by the same director. In addition to Schaffner, who also used him in The Normans Come , Don Siegel (in Just 72 Hours , Dirty Harry , The Great Coup and Verhext ) and Clint Eastwood ( The Texan , Bronco Billy ) were directors who liked to use him. Woodrow Parfrey died of a heart attack on July 29, 1984. He left behind his wife Rosa Ellovich Parfrey, with whom he had been married since 1950, and four children. His son Adam is a journalist, author and owner of Feral House .
