Mein Unkel vom Mars (original title My favorite Martian ) is an American sitcom , broadcast by CBS from September 29, 1963 to September 4, 1966 in 107 episodes (75 in b / w and 32 in color). In Germany, the series was first broadcast on ZDF in 1976 and has not been repeated to this day. The main characters are Ray Walston as Uncle Martin (the Martian) and Bill Bixby as Tim O'Hara.
action
A human-looking alien from the planet Mars crash-lands his spaceship near Los Angeles . He's stranded on earth. Tim O'Hara, a young newspaper reporter, is on his way back to Los Angeles from Edwards Air Force Base , where he was writing a report on an X-15 flight , when he sees the spaceship crash.
Tim helps the Martian and takes him home, where he pretends to be his uncle Martin. Outwardly, Martin pretends to be a normal person, only Tim knows about his origin and his various special abilities, such as two extendable antennas, telepathic powers , the ability to talk to animals or to let things float by pointing a finger.
In several episodes, Martin builds special devices, such as a time machine , which Tim and Martin transports in several episodes to exotic locations such as old England or the Wild West. The episode "When You Get Back Home To Mars, Are You Going To Get It" was shot as the last episode and reintroduced Uncle Martin's Martian nephew Andromeda "Andy". In the US, the episodes weren't aired in production order, so viewers were wondering why Andy appeared in episode 99 but disappeared in episode 100 with no explanation. Andy should be a regular character in the planned fourth season. The fourth season was no longer shot. Some of the scripts for the planned fourth season were rewritten for the animated series by Filmation , and of course Andy was there too. The ZDF did not make the same mistake as the Americans and the result sent "Another one from Mars" as the last episode of the live-action series, making it a reasonable transition to the animated series was.
