Sherwood Schwartz (born November 14, 1916 in Passaic , New Jersey , † July 12, 2011 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American television producer and screenwriter .

Life

Sherwood Schwartz began writing screenplays for television series in the early 1950s . In this capacity he was involved in 162 episodes of The Red Skelton Show with popular comedian Red Skelton from 1954 to 1962 . Schwartz is the creator of the television series Gilligan's Island and Three Girls and Three Boys .

On March 7, 2008, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
