Jack Chertok

Jack Chertok (born July 13, 1906 in Atlanta , Georgia , USA ; † June 14, 1995 in Los Angeles , California , USA ) was an American film and television producer .

biography

In the mid-1930s, Jack Chertok started working for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and began producing short films. Chertok was not limited to one genre in these films, he produced comedies, documentaries and crime novels. He was responsible for producing a large number of the films in the Crime Does Not Pay series. After MGM took over the comedy series The Little Rascals from Hal Roach , Chertok also worked on these short films.

Jack Chertok celebrated his greatest success with his fourth short film How to Sleep , for which he won the Oscar for best short film in 1936.

From 1941 he also worked as a producer for full-length feature films (including Die Spur im Dunkel , Das Korn ist grün , Bloiger Schnee ). But there were only eleven feature films he had produced before he switched to television as a medium in 1949. Until he retired from the film business in 1966, he worked exclusively for television, where he produced not only TV films but also episodes for TV series. B.
