Bill Bixby (born January 22, 1934 in San Francisco , California - † November 21, 1993 in Century City , Los Angeles , California; actually Wilfred Bailey Everett Bixby ) was an American actor and director .

Life

Bill Bixby played the reporter Tim O'Hara in the series My Uncle from Mars from 1963 to 1966 . The series was also broadcast on ZDF from 1976 . The family series Eddie's father (1969–1972) with him in the lead role brought international fame. After solving murder cases as the magician in the television series of the same name in 1973/74, he achieved worldwide fame through the television series The Incredible Hulk , the pilot of which was first broadcast in the USA in 1977. He played the scientist Dr. David Bruce banner. From 1978 to 1982 the series ran successfully on CBS . After the series was canceled in 1982, he was silent for six years.

In addition to Hulk, he played in 1976 in the successful miniseries Rich and Poor, the writer Willie Abbott, who married the childhood sweetheart of the main character Rudy Jordaches Julie Prescott. As a director, he directed the three television films about Hulk that were made after the series ended. From 1971 to 1979 he was married to the actress Brenda Benet (1945-1982) in his first marriage. They had a son named Christopher (* 1974) who died suddenly of a throat infection in 1981 .

Bixby died of prostate cancer at the age of 59 . He gave his last interview two months before his death. Bixby was last married in third marriage.
