Only three days after the world premiere on June 15, the DEFA production Spur der Steine (directed by Frank Beyer ) is removed from the programs of GDR cinemas because of alleged “anti-socialist tendencies”. Its performance in the GDR was only possible again in October 1989.
September 17th - Willy Brandt opens the first film school in the Federal Republic of Germany with the German Film and Television Academy Berlin .
