Robert Keith Richey (born February 10, 1898 in Fowler , Indiana , † December 22, 1966 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor and playwright .

Life

Robert Keith was a character actor in theater and film. He became known to Hollywood in 1927 when his Broadway hit The Tightwed . With the advent of talkies, he was hired to edit dialogues in Hollywood, and from 1930 appeared for the first time as an actor in films. However, Keith went back to New York in 1932 , where he again played theater and wrote other plays. Only after the Second World War did he come back to the film city, where he was seen in numerous supporting roles in some outstanding films and played numerous roles for television. In the series Auf der Flucht he introduces the father of Dr. Kimble (played by David Janssen ) represents.

Robert Keith was married a total of four times. From his second marriage to the theater actress Helena Shipman between 1920 and 1926 comes his son Brian Keith , who also became a successful actor. Between 1927 and the divorce in 1929 he was married to the actress Peg Entwistle , who is still known today for her spectacular suicide. His final marriage to Dorothy Tierney lasted from 1930 until his death 36 years later.
