Mark Robson

Mark Robson (born December 4, 1913 in Montréal , Québec , † June 20, 1978 in London ) was a Canadian film director , film producer and film editor in Hollywood .

Life

Robson initially worked as an editor for several films from 1941, before switching to directing in 1943 and directing more than 30 films by the end of the 1970s. From the 1950s he also appeared as a producer.

Robson was nominated for an Oscar in 1958 for Embers under the Ashes and in 1959 for Die Herberge zur 6. Glückseligkeit in the category of Best Director . He was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to the film industry . Robson also directed the 1974 film Earthquake, starring Charlton Heston and Ava Gardner .
