James Edward Grant
James Edward Grant (born July 2, 1905 in Illinois , United States , † February 19, 1966 in Burbank , California , United States) was an American screenwriter and film director.
Life
He wrote his first screenplay for the film Whipsaw in 1935 . In 1947 he made his debut as a director with the western The Black Rider , for which he also wrote the screenplay. This film was also the first production in which James Edward Grant worked with actor John Wayne , with several more to follow. In 1954 he directed his second and last film with a gala premiere , this time a crime film.
Grant was involved as a producer on the drama The Great John L. , shot in 1945 . 15 years later he was an associate producer for the Western Alamo .
1959 Grant got together with William Bowers for the film The Sheepman (dt: The Sheepman ) an Oscar nomination in the category Best Original Screenplay . In 1961 and the following year, Grant won bronze awards at the Western Heritage Awards.
In 1966 James Edward Grant died of complications from cancer. His last screenplay was made into a film posthumously under the title Latigo .
