action

Amelia Dedham, the energetic young daughter of a shareholder from Boston, visits her father, who lives on a South Sea island, in order to prove an immoral lifestyle on grounds of inheritance.

Dr. Dedham, Amelia's father, was married to a local princess with whom he has three children. "Guns" Donovan wants to give his friend Dr. Help Dedham. Donovan takes on the role of father of the children for some time so that Dedham appears as a decent citizen in front of his daughter.

Donovan's masculine sincerity and the children's charm quickly conquer Amelia's affection, so that the father can come out with the truth that the daughter had long suspected. After some misunderstanding, Amelia and Donovan, who have fallen in love, can get married.

criticism

“A rather inconsistent, moody, entertaining comedy with a few overly sentimental accents. She is always appealing when she exaggerates her irony and lets the very sharply profiled types clash in their contradictions. "

"Comedy that John Ford staged lightly like a family vacation film - Conclusion: South Seas episodes about melancholy men."
