John Wayne / filmography
John Wayne's filmography names the films in which the film actor John Wayne has starred. In his 50-year film career, he has appeared in more than 160 films. With a few exceptions, mostly at the beginning of his career, he played the leading role . In the Guinness Book of Records he is listed as the actor with the most leading roles (142). Mostly before 1930 he was involved in a number of films that cannot be precisely determined as an extra , in roles in which he is partly not recognizable in the film. He is named in the credits for 144 films .
In 1926 he first appeared in front of the camera as an extra. In 1930 he had a leading role for the first time in the western The Great Trek . In the 1930s he worked, mostly as a leading actor, in around 60 B-films . In 1939 he achieved his breakthrough as a top star with the leading role in the western Ringo . From then on, until his last film in 1976, The Last Sniper , he was featured in the credits in various genres, with one exception. He has often appeared in westerns , war and adventure films.
