Louis King , at a young age Lewis King (born June 28, 1898 in Christiansburg (Virginia) , United States , † September 7, 1962 in Los Angeles there ) was an American silent film actor and film director .

Life

The younger brother of the film director Henry King had briefly attended the University of Virginia at the beginning of World War I before he began his film career as an actor in 1917. After ten years in front of the camera - King often played die-hard guys or drunkards - he switched to directing during the silent film era. Initially, Louis King shot cheap B-Pictures , mostly westerns , and later also series products about Charlie Chan and Bulldog Drummond or exotic adventure stories and war dramas. In 1955 he ended his career in the cinema and found employment with series television until 1960. Unlike his older brother, Louis King was never able to work his way up into the A-tier of Hollywood's directors' guard.
