action

Jerry Mason fulfills his late father's last wish and seeks Jake Benson, whom he is supposed to support on his farm . Together they run a blacksmith's shop. One day when they remove a trampled stone from the hoof of a gold digger horse, they discover gold in it. You go on a search and soon come across a profitable gold vein . In town they sell the gold in the greatest possible secrecy. Nevertheless, they conjure up the envy of the ore inspector Harris, who has also kept an eye on old Benson's farm and tricked him into signing a bogus sales contract.

Harris' plan is to make Jake disappear and then use the false sales contract to secure the farm. He and his partner Cole take the opportunity when Jake rides alone to the claim. On the way back, they intercept him and shoot him. Believing he was dead, they leave Jake in the wilderness. However, Jake's mule runs away and runs into town, making Jerry aware of the incident. He finds the wounded Jake and brings him home. A short time later, Harris and Cole turn to Jerry to take possession of the farm.

Jerry sees through the plan. As he rides into town to file the claims, Harris and Cole bring the suspicion of murder to Jerry. He is arrested and is to be heard in front of the judge the next morning. Benson's granddaughter Betty informs Jake, who is dressed as a woman for the hearing. There he finally reveals himself to be the alleged murder victim and clarifies the truth. Harris and Cole can initially escape and flee with a motorized trolley , but are ultimately provided by Jerry and Jake and handed over to the sheriff's care.
