John H. Auer

John H. Auer (born August 3, 1906 in Budapest , Hungary , † March 15, 1975 in North Hollywood , California ) was an American director and producer of Hungarian descent.

Life

Auer was a child actor in Hungary at a young age . When the Habsburg Empire collapsed after the First World War, he made a brief guest appearance in the business world. He moved to the USA in 1928 in the hope of finding work in film there. At first, Hollywood was n't interested in him. Auer went to Mexico and made some films there, which were well received by the audience and which were also profitable. The critics also praised his works, so that Auer received several film awards. Hollywood producers became aware of the language talent and offered him contracts. Auer worked for various studios, most of which he did for Republic .

Auer Republic remained loyal to the 1950s and directed a number of B-movie-level crime films and comedies. In contrast to many other directors, Auer was not only the director, but was also responsible as a producer .
