The Venice International Film Festival will take place for the first time from 6 to 21 August .

January 6th : The film production company Union-Tonfilm is founded in Berlin.
March 31 : World premiere of Scarface . This production, which was directed by Howard Hawks , is considered a central work in American gangster films .
May 14th : The feature film Kuhle Wampe or: Who Owns the World? by director Slatan Dudow with the script by Bertolt Brecht will be premiered in Moscow in the original version, which was banned in the German Reich.
