Paul Massie

Paul Massie (actually Arthur Masse , born July 7, 1932 in St. Catharines , Ontario , † June 8, 2011 in Liverpool , Nova Scotia ) was a Canadian actor who was awarded the BAFTA of English film criticism in 1958 .

Life

Massie went to England in 1952 to study at London's Central School of Speech and Drama and made his first notable film appearance in The Silent War in 1958 , for which he received the BAFTA of English film criticism for best young actor.

By 1962, Massie took a few offers for other films and television productions; so he interpreted u. a. Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde in the hammer production Schlag 12 in London and "Paul" in the Tony Hancock filming The Rebel , but then concentrated on stage work (for example with Breaking Point in London) and, from the middle of the decade, on the role of acting teacher. From the 1970s until his retirement in 1996, he taught at the University of South Florida at Tampa , where he had previously acted and directed. Own appearances in films and television programs were sporadically and mostly limited to guest roles in series, often for Canadian television; Notable was the miniseries The Boy Scout , in which he played the title role for the BBC in 1973 .
