Ferry Sikla , born in Ferry Sykla , (born March 11, 1865 in Hamburg , † February 8, 1932 in Dresden ) was a German actor .

Life

The trained goldsmith trained as a singer and made his stage debut in 1885. Soon afterwards he made a career at the Residenztheater Berlin. The obese actor acted primarily as a comedian in tabloids . In 1912 he took over the management of the theater.

In 1914 Sikla made his film debut in The False Zaza . In the following years he appeared in numerous silent films, especially in the roles of well-to-do uncles, as a banker, councilor of commerce or other wealthy citizens. He played several times alongside or under the direction of Ernst Lubitsch , for example in 1918 in Der Rodelkavalier , Das Mädel vom Ballett and Der Fall Rosentopf . In Lubitsch's comedy I don't want to be a man , he appeared in 1918 as Ossi's uncle, played by Ossi Oswalda . The only two sound films The Company Marries (1930) and The Love Doctor (1931) also marked Sikla's farewell to film.

In later years he liked to play in operettas at the Rotterbühnen in Berlin, a network of several boulevard theaters , he also appeared at the Theater des Westens .
