Roger Kahane

Roger Kahane (born September 20, 1932 in Bois-Colombes , Hauts-de-Seine department ; † June 30, 2013 in Ivry-sur-Seine , Val-de-Marne department ) was a French director and screenwriter who between the years 1961 and 2004 in France, directed over 35 films, mostly produced for television.

life and career

Roger Kahane was born in 1932 to the university professor Ernest Kahane. He began his film career in the mid-1950s as assistant director to Christian-Jaque and René Clair before staging his first television film Le mariage in 1961 with Michel Galabru in the lead role . In the 1960s he directed a number of television films and episodes of television series before making his first feature film, Sortie de secours , in 1970 . In the same year he worked with the actors Alain Delon and Mireille Darc on the romance Madly , which was his greatest international success.

In the 1970s and 1980s he directed numerous television films before returning to the big screen in 1998 with the drama Je suis vivante et je vous aime .

In 2004, Kahane finally retired from the film business. He died on June 30, 2013 at the age of 80. His older brother was the mathematician Jean-Pierre Kahane (1926-2017).
